Thanks for visiting my website. I set the website up as both a way to let friends see what I’ve been up to and provide research information to people interested in my work. It also lets me practice web page programming.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Joel Tallaksen and I am a scientist interested in applied plant sciences. I’ve had lots of interesting jobs that have given me some great experiences and allowed me to work with a number of really neat people. My current work is in the bioenergy field, where I am working on identifying agricultural and other biomass that can be sustainably harvested for energy production.
In addition to my work, I have lots of hobbies and personal interests. Since I have so many interests, it is hard to stay current on all of them. One of the few things I am always dabbling in is cooking. Soups and cakes are my favorites, but I occasionally venture into breads, cookies, and candies. I’m also a big fan of computer games, which I probably waste way too much time on.
Another activity constantly on my calendar is working out. I do enjoy working out, but I think I mainly do it to offset the fact that I like to eat (usually stuff that’s bad for me). So I try to get out several times a week and do some running, biking, or other fitness activity. I’ll never be an Olympic champion, but I hope to stay healthy and keep out of trouble.
For more specifics on my hobbies or work, feel free to look through my website.
Thanks again for visiting,
Joel.
